Noch ist ein bisschen Zeit aber weil ich gerade an meiner Planung arbeite, bin ich schon ein bisschen auf's Laternenfest eingestimmt.

Eine Bastelanleitung für eine etwas ungewöhnliche, aber dennoch einfache und effektvolle Laterne:

(Ich würde dafür die Kinder ein wet on wet Wasserfarbenbild malen lassen, dass nach dem Trocknen mit Öl eingestrichen und dadurch durchsichtig gemacht wird. Mehr zur wet on wet Technik hier).

Färbereien

Gestern war wieder einmal Färben angesagt. Diesmal nicht ganz so natürlich mit Cool Aid und Ostereierfarben. Dafür ging es recht schnell und viel Farbe ist auch noch übrig, das heißt ich kann auch irgendwann mal Wolle oder Garn selber färben.

Hier ist das Ergebnis der Färbeaktion:

Jede Menge Spieltücher für die Kids...

...und ein wunderschön buntes Halstuch für mich.

Bin schon gespannt, wie die Farben nach dem ersten Mal waschen aussehen. Bis dahin sind sie jedenfalls sehr schön strahlend!

Ui, in letzter Zeit bin ich aber fleißig!

Diese Decke habe ich für eine Freundin gemacht, die gerade ihr drittes Kind bekommen hat.

Entschuldigt die Fußbodenbilder...aber es ist wirklich schwierig, eine Decke (auch wenn sie nicht einmal besonders groß ist) zu fotografieren...

Eigentlich sollte sie noch wuscheliger werden. Aber ich denke, das kommt dann beim mehrmaligen Waschen.

Hier das Ergebnis des gestrigen Färbeexperiments:

Die Farbe schaut in echt noch ein wenig bräunlicher aus. Farblich haut's mich jetzt nicht so vom Hocker aber Spaß hat's in jedem Fall gemacht. Das wird wohl ein Teil meiner Regenbogenpferdkollektion an der ich gerade arbeite.

I'm spinning...and switching to german

Jetzt ist es so weit. Ab heute geht's mit Deutsch weiter.

Als ob ich nicht schon genug Hobbys hätte habe ich jetzt auch noch mit dem Spinnen angefangen.

Ich hatte schon während meiner Zeit in der BAKIP eine Klassenkollegin die während der Pausen immer gesponnen hat. Nach einigen eher fruchtlosen (und sehr kurzen) Versuchen mit ihrer Spindel habe beschlossen, dass diese Art der Wollverarbeitung wohl doch eher nichts für mich ist.

Irgendwie hat es mich dann aber doch nicht losgelassen und vor einigen Monaten habe ich mir dann mal kurz eine eigene Spindel gebaut (Marke Schaschlikstäbchen + Holzrad). Wieder habe ich kurz und erfolglos damit herum probiert bis ich die Videos von chantimanou entdeckt habe.

Die sind wirklich genial. Mein erstes Garn habe ich noch vor allem mit der park & draft Methode gezaubert, gegen Ende durfte die Spindel dann auch mal fliegen.

Es ist auch schon verzwirnt, gebadet, getrocknet und zu einem (leider nicht besonders ansehnlichen) Knäuel gewickelt.

Hier hängt mein erstes Garn gerade zum Trocknen am Zaun.
Es ist ziemlich dick, rau und unregelmäßig...
aber selber gemacht! *freu*

Da Spinnen süchtig macht habe ich auch schon wieder die nächste Wolle auf der Spindel:

superkuschelige Merinowolle (die ich eigentlich fürs Filzen daheim habe) in wunderschönen Türkistönen. Tatsächlich ist Merinowolle gaanz anders zu spinnen als die grobe Schafwolle die ich vorher hatte. Der Faden wird wie von alleine suuuuperdünn und ist trotzdem recht reißfest. In diesem Fall stört mich der dünne Faden auch nicht, weil ich später drei Einzelfäden in rot, türkis und weiß verzwirnen möchte. Inspiriert wurde diese doch eher ungewöhnliche Farbkombination durch ein Armband, dass ich von L. bekommen habe:

Die Farben kommen auf dem Bild leider nicht so gut rüber.
Eigentlich ist die Wolle mehr türkis als blau.

Ein kuscheliges Körbchen! :-)

Und weil ich beim Spazieren gehen heute ein bisschen Holunder gefunden habe, habe ich mich kurzer Hand dazu entschlossen, ein Färbeexperiment zu starten.

Ich habe einen Strang gekaufter Merinowolle mit Holunderbeeren gefärbt. Gebeizt wurde das ganze mit Essig (GG rümpft die Nase), dann mit den ein wenig ausgedrückten Beeren eine ganze Weile heiß gehalten und jetzt steht's noch zum Abkühlen draußen. Bei letzter Begutachtung war die Wolle ein schmutziges Altrosa bis lila. Mal sehe, wieviel Farbe dann tatsächlich drin bleibt. Nachdem die Wolle ja gekauft ist, bin ich mir nicht so sicher, inwieweit sie schon behandelt war.

Last weekend we worked in our new garden again.
And we picked a huge bucket full of cherries! Our very first very own cherries!

Sadly one of the cherrie trees will have to go once the new house arrives but 'till then we'll enjoy the fruits of our garden!

I also picked some elder tree flowers and made elder tree sirup out of them. Also a first. I hope that I can get some more before they're all gone. I've only got one and a half bottles out of them.

Like last year we didn't celebrate much on Halloweens Eve but made a little party beforehand.

On friday a few friends of DD and her came together to create some fun things for this years halloween.
We made T-Shirts with little handprint ghosts on them, a Frisbee, a ghost and decorated little plastic balls in which they took home their sweets.

I didn't take many pictures during the party...it's always fun but there's hardly any time.
But here's how the buffet looked:

Jan loves shoes. He doesn't care which size or color...he absolutely adores them. He even wears them, if they are hot and sweaty because someone else just removed them from their feet after an hour long shopping trip. Yuck.
Ok...now him being a boy and loving shoes is weird enough you think? Wait 'till you see HOW he likes to wear them.

Yes. He wears them on his hands. Actually, he hardly ever wears them on his feet. Given that he didn't walk since very recently this is quite understandable. Who needs shoes on their feet when it's the hands that do all the work?

How cute! I hear you say. Wait a minute. Yes. It is. Until you want to leave the house and are in need for your shoes. Searching, searching...finding them in the toilett. Or the bathroom. Or the dust bin (because he loves to through all kinds of things in the trash). Or finding one shoe and having no clue where on earth the other might be.
But cute. Yes, it is.

Anyway...why do I tell you this? Because a week ago Jan actually stood up and walked. Well...it might not be that melodramatic. Maybe he walked a few steps at a time for quite a while now. And maybe, a week ago, he just walked 6 or 7 steps more than ever before. But by now he walks through the whole living room! Yeah!
So what is a shoe lover to do? Go shopping and by new shoes. His very own shoes. His very first very own shoes!

He likes them. Quite a bit. And he actually wears them on his feet. Well...maybe because I put them there and he can't get them off. Anyway.
Maybe this means the end to the where-are-my-shoes-has-anybody-seen-them-era.
We'll see.

After deciding what I wanted my vacation layouts to look like I got to work. One template is finished but I'd like to have a few others, maybe even seven...don't know. What do you think?

I created my own boder and added one of Ali Edwards Vacation Overlays. I used the rectangular tool to create the photo grid template on the upper side. Whew...doesn't sound to hard but took me an hour at least!

Scrapbooking lite

Summer came in a flash and soon we'll be on our vacation. Since I am already way behind on all the scrapbooking pages I'd like to do, I am searching for something quick and easy to document our journey.

I have a few requirements I want it to meet:
* I'd like to be able to do it on the go.
* I'd like to make several copies for each of our kids and maybe the grandparents.
* I'd like to incorporate some tools and papers I already have.

Everything's pointing toward hybrid, so that's what I'll do.

Here's what I've come up with...although it maybe change. Temptation is great to do a little mini album but I'd like to have the pages in my kids main albums so I try to hold back *lol*.

I like the idea of Ali Edwards "Week in the life" documentation. Find out all about it here. I wanted to do something similar and hoped to find some ready to go overlays but alas...I didn't.
I am still trying to sort out how to go on now. I tend to do my own mix and match with Ali's products. I really want to have some semi-finished digital layouts I just have to plop my pictures on and do some journaling. I'll do it in 8.5x11, get them developed as A4 pictures and combine them with some beach colored cardstock and embellishment to fit in my 12x12 albums.

That's it so far. Now off I am to designing some pages!

birthday cake

DD has had her 7 year birthday party on sunday...a few days early but who cares? Presents and cake are always welcome.

We celebrated at my parents in law place as there is a lake and how cool is that when it's baking hot outside?
As we titled the party a beach party (with no beach but there you go) I tried my best to do some beach related cake topping.

Here you go:

DD wanted a chocolate cake and this cake was VERY chocolaty and yummie.
I used this recipe for the cake and whiped up my own chocolate topping:

Zutaten:
500 ml Milch, 1 Pkg. Schokopuddingpulver, 150 g (oder weniger) Zucker, 350 g Butter, ca. 70 g Kochschokolade

Zubereitung:
Milch und Zucker erhitzen. Schokolade darin auflösen. Puddingpulver mit etwas Milch in einem Häferl anrühren und zur kochenden Milch-Zuckermischung geben. Kurz aufkochen lassen, vom Herd nehmen. ABKÜHLEN lassen und dabei immer wieder umrühren.
Weiche Butter schaumig rühren und ausgekühlte Puddingmasse löffelweise unterrühren. Eventuell noch einmal kalt stellen.

Ich habe den Kuchen einmal durchgeschnitten (zwei Mal wäre aber besser gewesen, und Creme wäre auch genug da gewesen), mit Jostabeeren Marmelade und Creme bestrichen (diese Marmelade ist ziemlich säuerlich) und noch einmal ein paar Stunden kalt gestellt (in der Form damit die Creme nicht herausquillt und gut hart wird) und dann rundherum noch einmal mit Creme bestrichen (da wäre Marmelade drunter auch nicht schlecht gewesen).

All in all a very lofty sweet cake!

It's really funny to see how boyish he is. Playing with cars and DHs tools. Going "brrmmm". It's not that DD didn't have all these things...but she didn't respond to them that much.

So here they are. DD sometimes does her homework there. And though it's so small they find a way to sit together.

Notice the tan? DD has been to Venice for 5 days with her grandparents. Had a lot of fun apparently. And a lot of sun too.

Do you plan your meals?

It was in winter 2003 when DH and I forgot about a payment that was due. It was about 2 500 Euro high (yes I know...how can you possibly forget about that??). It took us by surprise and as we just had our baby daughter we didn't have so much money ready. So we had to live on low costs for a while. This was when we started menu planning. We would plan for a week, shop at cheaper stores and tried to avoid expensive meals.
Within a few months our finances were ok again but we had gotten into the habbit of meal planning. It really isn't so hard when you've gotten used to it!

Because many people ask me how I can possibly plan for a whole week (which isn't that long) here's how:
Every thursday (or friday, if I'm very late) I grab one of my favourite cooking books, a pencil and a sheet of paper. I list every meal starting with friday evening (because we usually shop friday afternoon). It looks like this:

Then I shuffle through the cooking book and pick meals that I want to cook. I list the page numbers right on the list so I don't have to search for them later. Since I only use one book per week and switch every week we 1. don't eat the same meals every week and 2. I don't have to write down in which book to seek but only the page numbers.

While planning I try to have in mind...
...if we have anything left from last week which has to be eaten.
...if our freezer is overflowing or needs to get filled again.
...if I can combine meals like having Gulasch mit Nockerl one day evening and Würstl mit Saft und Semmeln the next day.
...if we're going to eat early or late (depends on DHs working hours) and therefor have more or less time to cook.
...if we're going to have company.
...to plan meals which need fresh ingrediens (like salat) early in the week or right after wednesday.

When I'm through with menu planning I write the acutal grocery list. I think about every meal I planned and write down what we will need to pick up for it. I add things like milk, eggs, sugar, butter (we need loads of them because I love baking), beverages, shampoo and so on.

We usually shop on Friday afternoon for groceries. We go to a discount store first and maybe to another one later if we didn't get everything we need. In midweek we sometimes have to buy milk and bread and vegetables but that's it.
We use Saturday as family errand day (IKEA would be one of the usual stops then).

Here's our current meal plan (written in German because I have no idea how the meals are named in English):

Do Ab: Äpfel im Schlafrock mit Vanillesauce
Fr Mi: ?

Sometimes we switch meals within the week...just as we like. But we know we have everything we need for every meal at home. I usually leave one meal blank...for unexpected visits or the like.

The list is pinned to our fridge so everyone can access it easily.

But why would we go through the effort of planning when the next store is within a few minutes walking distance?
* Think of all the time you'll save. Instead of going every day, you just have to shop once or twice a week!
* It is a lot cheaper to shop with a list than to randomly pick the items that you think you might use.
* We don't throw away so much food anymore (alhtough it sometimes still happens).
* It saves a lot of energy to have a plan laid out. I don't have to go through the "Oh my god what will I cook for today?" business every day...I just look at my list.
* You're bound to eat unhealthy food a lot more often if you just "whip up something" because you didn't plan.

Griefing

Yesterday a child from my girls school died in an accident. It happened just in front of the school. He was waiting for a traffic light to turn green with his friends when a car crashed into the group. Peter died before he reached the hospital. Two of his classmates where insured as well. However it's the emotional damage that will probably linger.

Altough I didn't know this kid I can't stop thinking about it. How he must have felt...dying without his parents near. How they must have felt...getting the call. I can't stop thinking "What if it had been my child?".

I think about the two people who caused the accident. Their life will never be the same either.

I think about the kids and teachers and parents who where around when it happened. How they will carry those pictures forever.

And how perhaps the parents would wish that THEY had been there...even if it was only to hold his hand and tell him that everything will be fine, no matter what. To see him one last time.

How will they feel, going into his room. Seeing how he left it...not knowing that he will never come back.

How they would wish that they had said good bye to him with all their heart in the morning. To make him feel that all their love, all their life is with him wherever he goes.

I can't imagine the hurt they must feel now.

I hear about accidents every day. Sometimes they touch me more than others. Only sometimes this deep.
It's different if you know the place. Know that, only one hour before, you where there. Know that your own daughter and her friends could have been standing there. Know the people who where there to help him and who now are forever changed.

How do you react to such a loss?
I don't know.

The only thing I know is that I will drive to school today and when my DD comes I will hug her dearly. I will try to be more friendly, more loving, more caring about her and her needs. For I can never know how much more time we will have together.

My deepest condolenses go to the family and friends of Peter. There are no words to take away their grief. May they find strenght in each other and in the arms of God.

Woah...I finally finished a project!

I wanted to use my tag maker and this is what I came up with (with help from Verena - thanks!).
It's a darling little notebook I can stick to the fridge (magnet on the backside). The pages can be torn off when used.

Here's how I made it:

I punched about ten tags out of white copy paper. Then I punched two tags out of red cardstock.

Sadly all of the pages are still intact...no love notes 'till now.

I know the new year has seen a few days (or weeks) but it's been quite busy around here.
Anyway...I wish you all a happy new year! Hope you had a great New Years Eve!

We had a wonderful christmas...lots of family time this past few weeks which I totally enjoyed!

On new years eve my brother and his girlfriend celebrated with us. We played Wii-Fit and Wii-Sports and Larissa is great at ski jumping.

One of our traditions is to watch "Dinner for One" just before midnight. Love it!

We even got to do some fireworks this year!

And I made some mini cupcakes for our guests....yummy...

Another family tradiotion:

Every other Friday Larissa is allowed to spend the night with us. It was ok when we were three but now that Jan is sleeping with us too it's a little bit crowded. Never the less I love those nights...when I wake up and see my babies sleeping peacefully sometimes even holding hands. Nothing like it!

December Daily - Day one

I'm a huge fan of Ali Edwards and love her projects.
So this year is the first year I'm joining in the december daily fun!
If you want to know more about it go to Ali's blog and check out her december daily album!

I put together a mini-album which is approximately 6x7 inches. I incorporated different sized and shaped pages, chipboard as well as paper.
I used traditional scrapbooking paper as well as digital elements I printed myself. I aged all pages using Ranger distressing inks. I'm not entirely happy with the outcome but decided to go with it as I don't have the time - or the nerve - of doing it again. Maybe next year :o).

I won't show you the cover yet as it's not finished *lol*. But here's page one.

Here's a couple of other ideas:
Tim Holtz shows again his 12 Tags of christmas! He has great blog candies too so be sure to have a look!
Shimelle has her "Journal your christmas" class up again. Cool thing, especially since you pay once and can participate every year!

My blog is looking a little bit off colored lately. I tried to change to a winter theme and since it was going to be easy peasy - no need to backup, is there? Stupid thing to do really. It took me 3 days to upload a new template WITHOUT getting an error (Firefox did the trick, in case you wonder).

I know I'm a bad blogger recently. Let me tell you that I've got a lot going on lately.
I'm working on various projects:
A little halloween album inspired by Marion.

Second I got the album for my "Week in a Life" album a few days ago. Now I've got to decide, wich pics I will use and do a lot of journaling.
Go to Ali Edwards blog to find out about the "Week in a Life" project. It's so cool! She's doing great work!

Third: I didn't tell you right away but my mother got married a few weeks ago. And guess what...they asked me to take pics and do a wedding album on it! I was so honored. And nervous not to mention. What if the pictures would be all blury and unfocused? What if they didn't like them? But they do (I guess) and although some of them ARE blury and unfocused I took enough so I can do a nice album with them.
At the moment I'm doing some postediting and then they're off to get printed. Still have to decide which size though.

My big girl was chosen to be the "ring bearer" a task she took quite seriously *lol*. But she was great!

Last but not least I want you to check out this free online class by Jessica Sprague. It's called "stories in hand" and is all about getting those important and not so important stories out of your - forgetful - head and on to paper. Some of them will be turned into scrapbook pages later, others won't but still you and your family can always remember them! Got to jessicasprague.com to register. Registraions will be open till Nov. 8th.

Well it's been a while and I'm sorry about that. Let me tell you in short what I've been up to.

It all started with my mother. She got married on the 29th of september on a two weeks notice. I just couldn't help myself and had to do some crafting for her wedding...so I hat two busy weeks.

The day after the wedding we discovered lice on my BigGirls head. *eek* So there we go...washing everything we could think of including her head (and mine) and combing it with one of those special combs.
Just as I was finished washing and cleaning and everything seemed to be normal again *big sigh* she came home from school having - you guess - lice!
So back to the beginning! I really do hope to have finished this "project" for good!

Beside all this cleaning hours I was trying to get some pages done. I'll post a few below. Nothing fancy just quick and easy!

I'll be back soon with some fun projects to share!

Quick Collage

Today I want to share a layout I created with a quick collage template. As I am way behing with my layouts I was searching for something quick and simple to help me create my everyday layouts.
I found this video and these templates and voila - here is my first layout using quick collage template nr. 206. I just flipped it around for the left side.
I printed it on photo paper and cut our the photos so I could bring some dimension to it using foam pads.

First day of school

On monday my BigGirl had her first ever school day! She was so proud!
Luckily she already knows some kids from her class from kindergarten so she wasn't shy at all.
Look at the pictures-isn't she beautiful? I am especially proud of her hair-style: my work! She even wore those cristall curlies I bought for my wedding! Too cute!

Afterwards we visited my sister in law who's son Nicolas is finally home from hospital. He was 9 weeks early but such a strong and cute little boy!

Did you ever feel like a superhero? I'm not thinking about climbing skyscrapers or fighting the bad guy...not even about throwing whales on ships *lol*...I am talking about people like Jessica and Jessica (maybe the name similarity is significant *lol*).
I know I shouldn't be laughing...but I can't help it. :-)
BUT I thank heaven that I didn't have to go through something like this. And yet...with LittleOne growing so fast...but I still got my hopes up. Surely MY children wouldn't do something like that, wouldn't they? Well...I'll go then and buy a bullet proof save...just in case! *lol*

Death by chocolate trifle

I recently tried out a new recipe. I got the original here but changed it a little bit and adjusted it to what supplies I could get.
It looks like so:

And here's the adjusted recipe for all Austrian Citicens who want to try it too.

Zutaten:
1 Pkg. Brownie fertig Mix + Zutaten lt. Pkg.
1 Pkg. Schokopudding + Zutaten lt. Pkg.
250 ml Schlagobers
1 Pkg. Oreos
1 Flasche fertiger Schokosirup
250 ml Schlagobers zum verzieren

Zubereitung:
1. Brownies lt. Anleitung auf der Packung backen und abkühlen lassen. In 1 - 2 cm Würfel schneiden.
2. Schokopudding lt. Anleitung auf der Packung kochen und etwas abkühlen lassen. Immer wieder umrühren, damit keine Haut entsteht.
3. Schlagobers schlagen und in den Pudding rühren.
4. In einer Trifle-Schüssel oder mehreren kleinen Schüsseln folgende Schichten beliebig oft abwechseln:
eine Schicht gekrümelte Oreos, eine Schicht Brownie-Würfel, mit Schokosirup beträufeln, Schokopudding darüber streichen.
5. Triffle für einige Stunden im Kühlschrank durchziehen lassen.
6. Vor dem Servieren mit Schlagobers verzieren.

Today was the third day of our vacation. We visited Graz which is one of my favourite cities. We did a little sightseeing and tried to find some new shoes for our BigGirl...not an easy task that is!

I can't believe it...today was BigGirls last day of kindergarten! Now she'll have one month of lazy time at home before school starts in september.
As a thank you gift for her kindergarten teachers I altered these paint cans:

This is the paint can from the front. The sentiment reads: "May you be blessed".

The can from the top. The scalloped circle reading "Thank you" is really a mini book. I used litte magnets to hold it into place.

I really enjoyed the project! It was a lot of fun!

Dragonfly

Look at what my daughter discovered yesterday:

It's the biggest dragonlfy I every saw (about 4 inches from head to "tail") and it was sitting right outside our window. I managed to take a single photo before it took flight again...sending me sreaming and running into the house *lol*. Although I think it's beautiful I didn't want to meet it in person :-).

I never could think of anything to do with those dragonfly stamps flooding the shops but now I consider buying one (Have you seen this one from Michael Strong?)...somehow I feel a strong spiritual bond to dragonlfies...or maybe just the urge to buy something *lol*...

Cloth diapers

During my first pregnancy I considered washable diapers. But then, the effort of washing and drying seemed unmanageable with a first child.
Now with my second child we discussed the topic again and decided to give it a try. So when Jan was born we ordered a rehearsing package with diapers of various brands. After the two week trial period we settled on these:

We love our new diapers...the are great! The effort isn't really noticeable since we have to wash cloth everyday anyway. They dry very quick and since they are one size and will fit 'till he's finished potty training it's helps saving money too.

Mini book "mother to be"

Yesterday I finished a new mini-book. It's was going to be a gift for a friend of mine who will be having a baby in a few months. It's without photos but with quotes and statements concerning motherhood.
I didn't have enough time or I would have embellished it further...but I guess she liked it anyway.

I also wanted to do a gift back matching to the mini-book but unfortunately the mini-book was too big for the bag. So I filled the gift bag with sweets *lol*.

family get together

Last sunday we went to my parents in law. They own a house by a little lake and on weekends like this, when it's getting to hot to bear the whole family can be found there. It's always a happy get together we really enjoy.
This time our big girl proved that she can really swim now! Even in deep scary lakes.

And we weren't the only ones in there. This fella and his 2 friends joined our little party.

The weekend before last I went to a new scrapbooking store in my town. It's called Pipilonia (check out the webstore) and I love love love it! Unfortunately it's right across town from where I live and with two kids in the back I won't make this journey again any time soon.
But a caring friend of mine went their last weekend and...what can I say..."Now I have a heating gun! Ho, ho, ho!"

I went right ahead and tried various embossing techniques and guess what: the embossing powder sticks to my gel pens! This was a new discovery for me. So today I'm going to get more colors *g*.

Baby Girl Envelope Book

I finished this project a few weeks ago but since it was a present for a friend of mine and supposed to be a surprise I couldn't post it earlier.
In fact this was my first ever Mini Book, not being quite mini at all (22 x 22 cm / aprox. 8,6 x 8,6 inch). It's an envelope book but I cut of all the flaps of the envelopes. I didn't do any tags but one might as well put tags or birth-greeting cards in any of the page-pockets.

Since BabyBoy didn't quite notice that he was due on Friday I have to find something to keep my mind and hands busy.
Apart from that I discovered a new love: mini books.
I can't get enough of them...at least of making them...though I never quite know what pictures to use so most of my mini books are empty shells at the moment.

Anyway...today was just another boring day until I discovered this tutorial and thought: man, I need to try that!
I furiously folded and glued for about 2 hours and I really like the outcome so far but I won't show you since there are no photos or embellishments in it yet.

But to keep you busy I post the tutorial video...maybe the mini-book-mania will hit you too!

Tag Along Wallet

I already showed you the mini-book I made for my mother but today I decided to do a kind of mini-book for my mother in law, too.
Since this year she is going to get three more grandchildren I chose to make a the tag along wallet I've seen on tvweekly (www.tvweekly.com). There is a tag for each grandchild.

It was really easy to make and I completed it within 2 hours. Never the less I love the look of it!

Ok, I've got a confession to make...I'm totally into Mini-Books. Since I startet my first book a few weeks ago (pictures of the finished product will be online soon) I dived into the matter and after some research and a few hours working time, here's the second book.
It's a mother's day gift for my mother with pictures we took only 2 weeks ago.

This mini-book is really small...it's about 7,5x7,5 cm (3x3 inch).
The word arts used are from http://elegantwordart2.blogspot.com/ (thank you bethany!) except the last one which I don't know where I got it from (I'm so sorry...if it was design by you or you know, where it comes from email me so I can give credits!).

The idea to this mini-book was given to me by stempelfloh (thanks to you!)!

First time...

...this is my 5 year old's first real scrapbooking page!

We went to our favourite scrapbooking store together and she picked an album (plain white to be painted on) and some REAL scrapbooking supplies (which made her extremely proud (and cost me a small fortune *g*) and she got to work as soon as we came home.

This is the outcome of a 10 minutes sit in (oh my, she is so much faster than I am!).

I think she did quite well! I helped her put the glue on the stars and get the text on the page but otherwise it is her own work.
I'm especially proud that she didn't stick to her favourite color pink but tried to match the colors. Maybe her album won't be one big pink blur as I thought it would be :-)!

Finally I finished the last important to do's for our baby: the changing table and the crib next to our big bed. Now everything's ready for the new member of the famliy :-)!

Well, it's been a long while since the last post and the only excuse I have is: I've been really, really busy!
With what? you might ask...well...I won't go into details but it involved some scrapping, some doctor's appointments (with more or less good outcome) and so on and so forth.

Last sunday was a big day: two friends of mine oranized a baby shower for me :-).
And so that I wouldn't be too bored beforehand, they send me a little box with a "To Do" for my hubbie and me. Here's the result:

The coloring is still missing, but we'll do it in the next few weeks...promised!!

So on the day of the shower I had to leave my flat early...I waited about 20 minutes and when I thought: "Well, maybe they're doing it without me!" they called me in.
Ten girls waiting for me, the flat all decorated and the food....but see for yourself:

I've been eating cake ever since :-).

After playing some games I got my presents, being the MaM babywearing coat I longed for for the last couple of month. In addition to that I also got some cute baby clothes (a black body with pink lettering: "born to be wild" for example ROAAAR).

Yesterday we got the letter...our big girl can go to the school we choose for her...and even with the teacher we prefer! She was so happy, as were we!

New bike...

On saturday my big girl got a new bike. And this time, it's not one of those bigger "toy-bikes" but a REAL bike. She was so proud! It even has a gear shift. True, at first she had some troubles managing it...but with daddy's help she accomodated quite fast.
